THEATRE ROYAL: ‘If You Could Stand Up (You’d Walk Away.)

It’s very succinct (especially for me) but here’s a review of the wonderful THEATRE ROYAL’S forthcoming single:

Their name is taken from the neglected and dilapidated theatre in their hometown. Their music though is fresh and invigorating, rising from the rubble like some ghostly phoenix. ‘If You Could Stand Up (You’d Walk Away)’ is a light and bright song of jangly guitars, understated, unobtrusive horns, uplifting harmonies, catchy choruses and foot-tapping beats. Like a balmy breeze on a hot summer’s evening, this is a relaxed and refreshing relief from the sometimes oppressive intensity of others trying just too hard.

Take a bow, Theatre Royal.

(Released through Preservation Society – end April 2011)
