RECORD STORE DAY – a thought.

Well …. that’s it for another year. Did you support your local Record Store by buying anything? Or even just finding out where your local shop is and paying a visit simply out of curiosity and maybe for future purchase reference?

Or were you maybe one of those profiteering sods who prevent proper fans getting their hands on that ‘special’ Limited Edition vinyl record for their collection?!

I was lucky enough to secure a copy of The Black Angels’  ‘Phosgene Nightmare’ on white 10″ vinyl. Only 2500 were pressed in Europe with a similar amount available across U.S. and Canada. I paid £14 for mine, which I thought reasonable as it also contained a ‘download card’ so I can actually listen to all six tracks…..I don’t actually have a working record deck at the moment, believe it or not!

But within a couple of hours I had a quick look on eBay and sure enough, there was a copy already on sale there for £30!

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with making a quick buck …… I just happen to think it’s morally reprehensible.

This Record Store Day is meant to be a celebration of music… not a money grabbing exercise.

People like this deserve to be locked in a room and forced to constantly listen to feckin’ Radiohead and Folk Music for a week!!!
