Every once in a while, LOUD HORIZON likes to come at you from way out in left field, with something that you would perhaps not normally expect to see on a blog that prefers to focus predominately on psych, punk and the more weirder sounds of the underground and ‘experimental’ scenes.
But we’re (well, it’s still just me, as it happens!) also big on Blues music too, and this video ‘arrived’ in the mail-box today I’ve gotta say … I like it! A lot.
ALEX HEPBURN was born in London to Scottish parents (which means we Scots can still ‘claim’ her to be ‘our own!) but raised in France. She is a singer / songwriter with an obvious passion for soulful blues and was invited to join Bruno Mars on his European tour last year, which certainly raised her profile. Her debut album is set for release in Spring 2013, but ALEX has already released several tracks, two of which are posted below.
It’s unavoidable, and I guess she’s probably really bored with the notion by now, but there is a distinct comparison to be made with the great Janis Joplin …. and maybe to a lesser extent with Amy Winehouse.
OK – so here’s the videos ….. but I reckon we’ll be hearing a good deal more of ALEX HEPBURN in the coming year. It’s only a matter of time before daytime radio catches on.
(I PROMISE there will be no more mentions of Bruno Mars or Amy Winehouse on this blog. I am truly sorry!)
