STALAGMITES: ‘Be An Animal.’

STALAGMITES are a three-piece from Manchester (well, Salford) and have been playing together now for a couple of years.

Although proud of their Mancunian roots, they are at pains to stress that they do not see themselves as a stereotypical Manc band. This new EP, ‘Be An Animal’ would appear to be their third release, and is available to download on a ‘name your price’ basis from their bandcamp page.

I have to say, that at a time when there is either a distinct similarity between bands on the ‘indie’ tip, or in many cases, a sense of acceptance of mediocrity, STALAGMITES seem to have avoided both bear-traps and have come up with something full of energy and with a bit of feeling and professionalism.

It’s most certainly worth checking out, and I look forward to hearing of their progression in the New Year.
