THE GLASS CHILD: ‘Letdown.’

Is it really a couple of years since the (then at least) teenage CHARLOTTE ERIKSSON relocated from her native Sweden to London in order to pursue her dream of making music? Seems so.

Adopting the moniker THE GLASS CHILD, Charlotte’s initial release was very fragile and pained … but kind of compulsive listening all the same.

‘Letdown‘ is the first single to be lifted from THE GLASS CHILD’s debut full length album that will be released in February of next year. Lyrically, the song still points to someone unsure of themselves; someone who perhaps spends more time trying to please rather than be their own person. Someone frightened by failure.

But musically, that early fragility seems to have dissipated and replaced with a frustration of sorts. This is stronger and more rousing than anything I’ve previously heard from Charlotte, and yet she is still able to instill that feeling of pathos in the listener.

(‘Letdown’ is released through Charlotte’s own ‘Broken Glass Records’ label and is available now.)
