Introducing …. NELSON CAN.

OK – I can’t deny it … when I first listened to NELSON CAN’S debut single from January of this year (video below) I found it intensely annoying!  And then of course, the more I played, ‘Apple Pie,’ the more I became annoyed at myself – for starting to like it! It certainly gets inside your head… wait and see!

NELSON CAN are an all-girl group (Maria, Selina and Signe) from Denmark, currently based in Copenhagen. They had previously formed as a band a few years ago, but kind of lost impetus and nothing much happened for a few years. But in 2011, they decided to give it another go and so re-formed in the shape of NELSON CAN.

The music is simple, just drums, bass and vocals … which of course makes it easy to remember, like I said earlier. In January of this year, they released ‘Apple Pie‘ as a single, which was then featured in a Volkswagon TV commercial in China! Highlights of this year include supporting The Black Keys and playing several high profile festivals including Roskilde Festival (in their homeland), and Iceland Airwaves.

An album is scheduled for release in the new year, but meantime their latest track ‘Troublemaker‘ is available below as a free download.

I reckon NELSON CAN have a quirkiness and attitude that deserves to be heard. Watch this space …..
