I had envisaged this weekend just posting a couple of Festive, tracks to LOUD HORIZON as I wind down towards Christmas and my fortnight’s holiday break in the New Year. But as you’ll discover below, I got somewhat sidetracked when this little ditty crashed onto my desk! If I’m honest, I’m kinda struggling to find much in the way of Christmas cheer here!
However, this is one blistering track from Swiss band A THOUSAND YEARS SLAVERY. I don’t have much information on the band as their Facebook page doesn’t seem to be too up to date, but they seem to take influence from the grunting Scandinavian Death Metal scene and blend it with a more UK / US Metalcore vibe. There’s some excellent guitar work going on in this one and while a lot of Death Metal stuff passes me by, there is enough variation and integration of styles plus some actual harmonies hidden in the depths of the musical brutality.
Maybe not one to have your Granny rocking around the Christmas tree after a few sherries …… but a worthy five minute diversion from Slade and Shakin’ Stevens!
