MERZBOW – (there’s more to ‘Noise’ than simply just noise.)

MERZBOWSometimes, merely the description of music as being ‘Noise’ or ‘Noise-Rock,’ is enough to scar prospective listeners away. And yeah, in some cases it can be pretty unstructured and highly abrasive, but this old gem from the prolific Japanese Noise artist, MERZBOW (real name Masami Akita) offers much more. With hints of krautrock permeating at various points the 2002 album ”Merzbeat‘ contains some meaty rock guitar riffs and pounding beats and as such probably provides a good ‘entry point’ into this exciting, inventive and ever-shifting genre.

Here’s the whole album – go on ….. knock yourself out!!
