A week or so back I posted a little ‘Introducing,’ piece on Canadian Sean Warkentine – aka AN ANT AND AN ATOM. Whilst chatting, Sean, who produces a local radio show highlighting some of the Alberta area’s ‘less commercial’ musical talents, ran off the names of a few bands he thought worth my checking out.
And PIGEON BREEDERS are one of them. This is right up my street! And I’m the sharing kind also …..
Back in 2011, whilst room-sharing, three lads, Will Scott, Tyler Harland and Myles Bartel began their musical / sonic experiment. Leaning heavily towards the ”experimental” and more ambient form of krautrock, they made their debut public appearance that summer at an ‘open mic’ night run by the Ramshackle Day Parade record label.
Since then, the band have worked on developing their sort of ‘ambient noise’ trademark sound, and have released four albums, the latest being ‘Oblique Temperatures,‘ which is streamed (and available to buy) below. If you have the time, I heartily suggest you crack open a beer, sit back and play the album straight through as if one piece. This’ll take you places you didn’t know existed.
