Stonehouse

Stonehouse

There’s not much I can find about this band – it seems the Plymouth based four-piece (they were named after an area of the city) was somewhat short-lived. As far as I can see, they recorded just the one album, ‘Stonehouse Creek‘ for RCA, and did so in one twelve-hour session, with piano overdubs being added at a later date.

Their sound is of a bluesy, heavy rock which I see some have pigeon-holed with likes of Free. I’m not so sure about that, but I can see the reasoning. It’s certainly riff-heavy and bass-driven.

Sadly, the band broke up shortly after the album release, with vocalist Jim Smith and drummer Ian Snow resurfacing in the prog rock band Asgaerd.
